As finals approach, one of the most common questions students ask is: "What grade do I need on my final to pass?" or "What score will give me an A?"
Required Score = (Desired Grade - Current Grade × (1 - Final Weight)) ÷ Final Weight
Suppose:
Required = (90 - 82 × 0.60) ÷ 0.40 = (90 - 49.2) ÷ 0.40 = 40.8 ÷ 0.40 = 102%
In this case, getting an A is mathematically impossible, but you can still aim for your best score!
